A Rare Pair of Louis XVI vases in the form of Jugs, Circa 1775
The gilt bronze handles are attached to the spout which has a lion’s mask at the front. The ring from the lion’s mouth holds up garlands of ormolu flowers which return to the handle. The body of the vases is made of onyx marble and sits in an ormolu cup which is chased with leaf work above a fluted round base.
